Dartington and Devon Connections

This genealogical chart represents a reconstruction of the family from limited surviving sources and should not be accepted as proved without accompanying evidence. It is based on both unpublished material as well as the sources listed.

After their move to Devon, the Drakes are found living in Tiverton, and later Roger Drake held 1/2 knights fee at Dartington.  This chart recapitulates a portion of the Drake ancestry and demonstrates the family connections which probably made the land holding at Dartington possible.  The coronets indicate rank, but both their designs and their assignments to feudal barons are  anachronistic. The red line shows the descent of the Drakes of Devon.
