Descent of Land at Whaddon, Gloucester

This genealogical chart represents a reconstruction of the family from limited surviving sources and should not be accepted as proved without accompanying evidence. It is based on both unpublished material as well as the sources listed.
The ancestors of the Drakes held lands at Whaddon, Gloucester as undertenants of their kinsmen, the Sudeleys. They also held land at Drakenage, Warwickshire. A lawsuit over the land at Whaddon in the 1190s created key evidence which helps document the line of descent. This chart shows various family interconnections. The blue line shows the inheritance of Whaddon. The red line shows the descent of the direct Drake forebears.
